For those keen to experience the legendary flora and fauna firsthand, the resort of Rio das Pedras enables visitors to do just that. Located within Brazil’s second largest nature reserve the rainforest of Mata Atlantica is home to more unique species of wildlife than anywhere else on the planet.

The Resort
South of Rio de Janeiro, the Resort of Rio das Pedras nestles amid lush greenery set at the edge of a long beach in the heart of Brazil's second largest protected nature reserve, the Mata Atlantica. The colonial style bungalows blend harmoniously with the natural environment. The large seafront swimming pool lies next to the La Jangada restaurant where after a day of water-skiing or excursions*, a superb variety of dishes awaits you at the buffet.

Beach
600 yards of private sandy beach (no lifeguards), bordered by imposing rocks that form little creeks. criques. Beach equipped with deckchairs and showers. There are plenty of trees along the beach providing lots of shade.

Parks & Gardens
The Resort is located in the heart of the Mata Atlantica, the forest boasting the greatest number of species in the world (over 25,000 different types of trees). Gardens consisting of bougainvillea, hibiscus, and fruit trees such as banana, lemon and pitanga. Ornamental pools and subtle lighting add to the charm.

Accommodation
The 320 rooms are divided into Solares (groups of buildings). The 2 and 3 storey buildings are splendid examples of neo-colonial architecture. The accommodation is also located on the right of the Resort (with back to the sea).
Club Room
A room situated away from the Resort centre, with a view of the gardens and mountains. You also have the option of a Family room. Specially designed with families in mind, it gives children their own space, so they can really make the most of their holidays, giving parents the chance to completely unwind. Additional options include a Sea Side Club Room, near the Resort centre. In the midst of the buzz, you have complete freedom to live your holidays to the full and just wallow in wellbeing.
Deluxe Room
The Deluxe Room in the Resort centre is comfortable, elegant and close to the sea. Some of the Deluxe Room are particularly well suited to family accommodation.

Bars & Restaurants
Restaurants:
Delicious, creative cuisine and impeccable table art. Our chefs pull out all the stops to ensure you have a fabulous and entertaining meal. FOR INFORMATION: The speciality restaurant may be closed at certain periods.
General buffet restaurant
In the centre of the Resort, a restaurant with lots of outdoor space and a typical Brazilian decor. A warm atmosphere that goes perfectly with the international cuisine served at the buffet at all mealtimes. All 6 rooms of the restaurant are non-smoking areas.
The Jangada
This typical restaurant, which has an open structure, located near the river that flows through the Resort, serves late breakfast and lunch as well as speciality Brazilian dishes in the evening. Evening tables must be booked in advance at Reception. Waiter service. This is a non-smoking area.
BABY CORNER special service
This Baby Zone, in the Resort's main restaurant, offers a special service for babies, with sweet and savoury baby foods and all the equipment necessary for preparing your baby's meals.

Bars:
Available all day and evening (during bar opening hours) in all the bars in the Resort.
Drinks included (served by the glass and in the bars only) - Water, fruit juices, sodas, hot drinks, cocktails with and without alcohol, local and/or international spirits, wines. Sweet and savoury snacks

Main bar
In the centre of the Resort, opening onto the gardens and opposite the pool, this spacious bar is an ideal meeting point. Just next to the bar, the children have their own space where they can enjoy soft drinks and sweets! Non-smoking area.
The Janganda
With its magnificent view over the river and lush gardens, this quiet, intimate bar provides you with a great setting to relax after your lunch or dinner.

Wellness Centre
Situated in the heart of the Resort, this Massage Area** proposes a wide range of massages** (from 30 minutes to 1 hour) and rituals (over 1 or 2 days). It has 6 individual treatment rooms.
** For information: The term "massage" implies a superficial manipulation of the face or body, solely for aesthetic purposes, sometimes to ensure good penetration of a cosmetic product, or for comfort. The massage referred to is an external massage of the skin, with no medical or therapeutic aim. It may be done manually or with mechanical aids, exclusively by qualified, trained professionals.

NEW This Resort has children's club facilities (Petit Club Med®*) inspired by the theme of nature, to demonstrate the pleasures of living in harmony with nature, and satisfy the children's natural curiosity. Between the sea and the tropical forest, on the edge of an ecological reserve, a fun area in harmony with the generosity and exuberance of nature, for children from 2 to under 4.
For information: the children's and teens clubs are open all week, except Sundays.

Petit Club Med® (from 2 to under 4) - Optional Extra*
At this age, they're no longer babies, but they still need close supervision. It's the age of first discoveries, so Petit Club Med proposes early learning activities, walks and outdoor games; a well-balanced lunch devised specially for the needs of growing children followed by a nap or quiet time, creative activities, and of course tea time, always a favourite moment of the day! The activities follow the children's progress, divided into age groups. From 7.30 pm, after dinner with their parents, they go back to the Petit Club Med®. While parents enjoy a quiet dinner, the children can enjoy their own evening with their friends.
For information: The adult accompanying the child must be able to show that he or she meets the minimum vaccination requirements for children (child health record or medical certificate). Nappies and baby milk are not provided by Petit Club Med®.
Mini Club Med® (from 4 to under 11) - Included in your package
Creativity and energy. At this age, children have a thirst for everything. The Mini Club Med®’s vocation is to satisfy their boundless energy and curiosity. Activities include sport, games and creative activities. Children are divided into age groups.
Juniors' Club Med® (from 11 to under 18) - Included in your package
Freedom and fun for teenagers. Proposed only during the Brazilian school holidays, it's a Club Med classic, with youngsters divided into 2 different age groups. Club Med offers everything but imposes nothing. A free and exclusive spirit that youngsters adore. The Juniors' Club Med® enables teenagers to meet and take part in activities of their choice; in their own individual way, they get involved in life at the Resort. This Baby Zone, in the Resort's main restaurant, offers a special service for babies, with sweet and savoury baby foods and all the equipment necessary for preparing your baby's meals.
BABY FEEDING ROOM
Open 24 hours a day, it contains the necessary facilities for preparing meals: blender, steriliser (provided on request only), microwave, refrigerator, bottle warmer (provided automatically in the room for G.Ms® who book a Baby Club Med® or Club Med Baby Welcome® service), and supplementary products such as mineral water, fruit, UHT full-cream and semi-skimmed milk (baby milk is not provided).
BABY-SITTING
To enjoy a moment of total freedom, take advantage of the baby sitting service (subject to availability). For information: we provide a list of baby-sitting services on request. These outside service providers bear the entire responsibility for the services they provide; the Club Med provides the contact but has no responsibility for the service.
CLUB MED BABY WELCOME® (FROM BIRTH TO UNDER 2)
We’ve done everything in our power to ensure the comfort and well-being of parents and babies. Personal welcome, baby-care material available in your room and/or in the baby care room (cot, changing mat, baby bath, high chair on request, bottle-warmer), sweet and savoury baby foods, Baby Zone equipped to prepare babies' meals, high chairs and/or booster cushions in the restaurant. Spare pushchairs are also available if required.
